Porpunkah Rally Report 19th - 23rd March 2020 Organisers: John and Bev Mills |
U3A WANDERERS CARAVAN RALLY
POREPUNKA PINES HOLIDAY PARK
19/03/2020 - 22/03/2020
THURSDAY. Weather fine temp mid 20's. This is the day most people are arriving. We welcomed two new members, Glen and Gay who unfortunately along with the rest of us won't be able to attend any more rallies for a while. Greetings were all touching elbows or feet with good humour. Happy hour a little bit different keeping our distance and non sharing of nibbles but still great conversation and humour.
FRIDAY Weather fine temp mid 20's Today was spent exploring Mt. Buffalo with its many walking tails, lookouts and waterfalls. The view from the top lookout was amazing, although there was evidence of the recent bushfires coming extremely close , the wooden tables and the lookout with a wooden shingle roof were untouched. We stopped for a picnic lunch on the shore of Lake Catani and later coffee or ice creams at Dingo Dell cafe.
SATURDAY Weather fine temp mid 20's Most people spent the morning around Bright and at the market. In the afternoon we visited the Stoewer vintage car museum and listened to a very interesting talk by the owner about the history of this unique company. Our Saturday dinner was supplied by the Alpine hotel as a takeaway meal and consumed at tables set up on the grassy area behind the camp kitchen.
SUNDAY Weather fine temp low 20's. Some of the more adventurous went 4WD driving. Most of us then went on a picnic to Lake Buffalo while some went to Harrietville and the Lavender farm.
We think all of you really enjoyed this short break away from the real world in a nice caravan park with good company. As for the "Oh Bugger award" my wife awarded it to ME for losing people on a convoy.
Kind Regards John and Bev Mills
