The rally was held at the Sambell Caravan Park Beechworth.
Some members arrived on Thursday. The weather was cool mornings with lots of sunny patches during the day followed by cool evenings. Friday was spent with some of us doing a very informative tour of the Beechworth goal. The guide was very knowledgeable. The rooms were very cold and sparse. Others checked out walks and historic precinct. Then on to Stanley for afternoon tea with jam scones and cream at farm gate - Jim Jam jams, delicious mmm. Then back to camp to get ready for a visit to a night ghost tour of the Beechworth asylum spooky cold but well presented.
Saturday, walks around the lake took about 1 hr round trip. Also visited the Beechworth farmers market and checked out the historic buildings and shops in town. After lunch off to Eldorado gold and tin dredge, the men loved it.
We visited the Woolshed Falls and Mt Pilot, great views, on the way back stopped at Eldorado the smallest pub for coffee, wine and ale, it was a beautiful sunny afternoon and no one wanted to leave. Then back to camp to change for dinner in town at the Hibernian Hotel -great meal.
Sunday we took a trip to Chiltern, another market, lunch at the bakery, lots of old shops and buildings. Some of us had a tour of the old pharmacy which closed early 60s and it was left as it was then. Some visited Yackandandah - then back to camp for a large fire (name withheld, but guess who was the very big fire builder ??) and nibbles before we all climbed into bed.
We hope everyone enjoyed themselves, and thank you to the 19 happy campers who supported the rally at such a very cold time of the year.
Geoff and Judy Miller.
