Inverloch Rally Report 12th - 16th September 2019 Organisers: Brigitte & Jurgen Salwat |
We are just so lucky that we can come back from every rally and say "we had a great time". Inverloch was no exception.
We had 20 participants for dinner at the Wonthaggi Club on Saturday night and most of these also congregated in a cosy, heated, enclosed camp kitchen on the other evenings for happy hour.
On Friday morning we were most impressed with our tour of the desalination plant in Wonthaggi. It has copped so much criticism and yet it is amazingly environmentally sound, far thinking and well-monitored. Lunch was in the historic Hicksborough Store cafe.
On Saturday in beautiful weather we drove to Phillip Island, stopping on the way at the Art Fusion Glass and Sculpture Gallery in Anderson( the owners of which would have been happy at the extent of our custom), and then a lookout over the Bay and one at Pyramid Rock. Another cafe lunch followed at the Cheeky Goose in Cowes. A few people continued on to The Nobbies and were lucky enough to see whales breaching. Others visited a retro market and a craft shop. Some walked along the Screw Creek track in the afternoon.
The Sunday Morning Inverloch Market really is a quality local farmer's market and was worth a visit. Some members had to go home that day and others were ready for a cosy afternoon resting or doing a jigsaw puzzle. A few drove along the coast road to Cape Paterson, enjoying the lookouts and did the short coastal walk from the Safety Beach to the 1st Surf Beach.
We had hoped for a tour of the dinosaur dig and foot print but the tides were against us. Still, we had plenty to do and on the whole the weather was in our favour.
So, now we can look forward to Marysville.
