Well, we’ve finally come to the end of our 2018 activities with a great Christmas Break-up Banquet on Wednesday 5th December at the U3A Parkdale Campus.
Around 65 members attended and were treated to a fabulous spread put on by Jan & Doug McIntire with the help of many other “Wanderers”. Thanks guys . . . you all did a fantastic job 😊
It was also a great time for many of us to catch up with old friends and acquaintances who, for one reason or another, were not able to attend some of the many Rallies that we had during the year.
We’d also like to acknowledge a couple of our members, like Ros & Barry Rusch and Rob & Yvonne Muir, who were unable to attend for health reasons. We wish them well on their respective journeys and hope to see them in the in the not too distant future.
The afternoon started with a short “Good Bye” speech by Quentin Ogle, the outgoing coordinator of the Knox U3A Wanderers, and a “Welcome” speech and presentation by Brigitte Salwat, the incoming coordinator of the Knox U3A Wanderers . . . long may the group survive when we have enthusiastic members who are willing to step-up when required. Thanks Brigitte 😊
After this short formality the festivities for the day commenced in earnest with ‘popping corks’ and ‘clinking glasses’ and joyful chatter when old friends meet.
The MC for the day was Gerry, who, through all the noise and frivolity, managed to get us all fed in an orderly and timely manner. . . with seconds for those who needed the extra energy boost.
Thanks again to everyone who contributed to the success of the day.
A great time was had by all 😊
