Yea Rally
Report 6th to 10th September 2018 Ray & Mavis Strong "Come when you can, leave when you must." |
31 Wanderers spent a very happy time in Yea 6th to 10th September. Most people arrived on Thursday and spent the first of our happy hours in the meeting room provided for us by the helpful Caravan Park Managers.
Friday morning we walked through the historic Cheviot Tunnel then spent a very relaxing afternoon at the Yea Cidery, Winery & Brewery.
The Caravan Park Managers provided a sausage sizzle for our evening meal. We didn't have to cook!
Saturday morning we went on a Wetlands Walk with guides from Y Water. We learned a lot about the plants, birds & insects thar are sustained in the Wetlands ás well as Aboriginal history of the area. The dog owners in the group were particularly happy as they were able to take their dogs on the walk.
The Saturday night dinner was held at the Country Club Hotel where, although there was a delay in receiving our meals, we were served together and enjoyed our meals.
Sunday was probably the highlight with our train ride on the Kerrisdale Mountain Railway., which is owned & operated by Andrew & Jennifer Forbes. The 45 minute scenic train trip was followed by Andrew showing us through his workshop, full of railway memorabilia, and his almost completed steam locomotive.
Several carloads then visited the Light Horse Memorial Park near Seymour before having a delicious afternoon tea in Seymour. Many vanilla slices were devoured here as well as other bakeries over the weekend!
All in all a very pleasant time spent with friends.
Many Thanks to Ray & Mavis Strong :)
